Georgina, Gen and Mel from our PHCC Agriculture Team were on hand at the SJ Food and Farm Fest on the 3rd of May. PHCC are supporting SJ Food and Farm Alliance over the next 3 years with this event, through our Resilient Farms, Nature and Communities project. This year we were site with a stall which despite a wet start to the day, had a steady stream of visitors stopping by. Our interactive river model was a crowd favourite with the kids. Not only did it provide a fun place to stop and play, but it also helped teach how actions upstream can impact our estuary downstream. The dung beetles in action also sparked a lot of curiosity!

Many landowners stopped by to learn more about regenerative farming practices, with improving soil health standing out as a key area people wanted help with.

It was wonderful to see so many landowners express interest in our programs we have on offer, and our token voting system showed that rivers and dung beetles ranked the highest of what kids learned about on the day!

A big thank you to our wonderful volunteer, Judi, who kept the river model flowing by making endless trips to the water truck to ensure our estuary model had a constant supply of rain!

This project is supported by funding from the Western Australian Government’s State NRM Program.
