Senior Scientist – Healthy Waterways

The Peel-Harvey Catchment Council (Inc) is calling for applications from highly skilled and motivated Scientists or Science Communicators to drive science communication and integration of science into Catchment management in the Peel-Harvey Catchment.

This 3.5 year contract position is best suited to a qualified scientist or science communicator with demonstrated experience in communicating science to diverse audiences; understanding research and research gaps; and collaboratively inspiring and enabling evidence based adaptive management to improve environmental health of catchment-scale ecosystems.

Applicants will need to demonstrate significant experience in communicating science, preferably with a strong natural resource management focus and applied research background; demonstrated experience in facilitating and/or undertaking relevant research in this field; strong understanding of natural resource management issues, particularly water quality; ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and guide strategic thinking; ability to develop research networks to facilitate collaborative research projects and guide adaptive management; ability to communicate and drive the vision and inspire science. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with the existing project teams, all levels of government, industry, community and academia and that project and reporting outcomes are achieved in a timely manner, against funding milestone requirements.
