Peel-Harvey Catchment Council is holding a free Shorebird Identification Workshop. The workshop is for anyone interested in learning shorebirds identification skills enabling them to participate in the national Shorebird 2020 count on Sunday the 11th of February.

The shorebird 2020 count is a national shorebird monitoring program throughout Australia which aims to gain a better understanding of the populations of the nation’s shorebirds. The workshop is conducted over two days and run by Ornithologist, Bill Rutherford. It involves a mix of classroom learning and excursions to the wetland to survey and id shorebirds.  The workshop will include an introduction to the Shorebird 2020 Project, learning shorebird features and behaviours, how to use birdwatching equipment, how to complete a field survey, and shorebird identification in the field.  You don’t have to be experienced in birdwatching to attend the workshop, beginners are welcome.
