The shorebird 2020 count is a national shorebird monitoring program throughout Australia which aims to gain a better understanding of the populations of the nation’s shorebirds. The annual count spans the 26,000 hectares of the Peel-Yalgorup system  (Internationally recognised as Ramsar Site 482). Approximately 60 volunteers will take part in counting the shorebirds in the wetlands. Facilitated by Peel-Harvey Catchment Council (PHCC), in consultation with Birdlife Peel branch, the Count helps with our conservation efforts, providing an understanding of the factors affecting declining populations and environmental impacts.
