Emily Stout

2024 Recipient

Emily is currently studying a master’s at Murdoch University in marine biology. She will be looking at the benthic invertebrate communities (little animals that lack a backbone such as crustaceans and worms) in the Swan Estuary Marine Park. This research will be important in understanding a major food sources for internationally protected bird populations. These birds feed and rest not only in the Swan-Canning Estuary but also in the Peel-Harvey Estuary, and important Ramsar site.

Phillipa (Pippa) Clifton

2023 Recipient

Pippa’s first degree was in Human Biology and History, which led her into five successful years working in healthcare. While Pippa experienced success, she acknowledged it wasn’t fulfilling her and after internal reflection, she sought out opportunities in the field of environmental science with a degree in Conservation and Wildlife Biology at Murdoch. Throughout these studies she discovered she had a strong resolve to dedicate her career to the safeguarding of the environment and developed a deeper appreciation for Australian biodiversity.
Pippa is now studying her honours in Conservation and Wildlife Biology and plans to commence in semester two of this year.
