The annual Wetlands festival is on again and we have a program packed full of fun activities for the whole family. There will be opportunities to explore our wonderful Ramsar 482 wetlands through tours, art markets, a citizen science foreshore clean-up, dog-friendly breakfast event, music, entertainment and more!

8.30am - 12.30pm

Wonders of our Wetlands

Coodanup Foreshore, Peel Parade, Coodanup (nearest cross street Beacham St)

Coodanup Foreshore comes alive with FREE, family friendly events!

8.30am – 12.30pm

Markets and Entertainment

Live entertainment, fun art & craft activities, market stalls, face painting, food vendors & lots more

Wetlands Impressions – a free art activity for grown-ups

The Mandurah Plein Air Artists will facilitate festival attendees to create an artwork, referencing the wetlands around the Coodanup foreshore.  Individual boards, paper, paints, brushes etc. will be provided and MPAA artists will be demonstrating how to capture the landscape, en plein air.

Wetlands Impressions, a free art activity for children

Large MDF boards will be taped into smaller sections and children will be encouraged to paint, in their own section, what they see around them. The focus will be on the Coodanup foreshore, wetlands and bird life.  Once the boards are complete, the tape is removed, to reveal a mosaic of many individual paintings.  These boards will then be exhibited in the foyer of ManPAC as part of a larger Wetlands Weekender exhibition.

Dogs Breakfast

Bring your furry friend and enjoy a free breakfast for you and your pooch! Meet City of Mandurah Rangers and representatives of BirdLife WA to learn how you and your dog can enjoy local walks around the wetlands whilst protecting local wildlife – how pawsome is that!?

This annual event is all about welcoming migratory birds back to the Peel-Yalgorup System, where they will stay for the summer before returning to the northern hemisphere to breed. The event has been running since 2014 and was inspired by David Rennie, an award-winning local photographer, aiming to raise awareness about migratory shorebirds and the importance of looking after our environment for them.
