Healthy Estuaries WA is a four year $25 million State Government program for long term protection and management of our estuaries. It aims to protect and improve the health of seven key South West estuaries by reducing nutrients and organics in rivers, streams and drains, that feed into the estuaries.

Restoring stream function by fencing and managing stock access to waterways as well as revegetating foreshore areas will reduce soil erosion and organic loading while also enhancing the uptake and removal of nutrients.

Funding is available through PHCC for landholders within the Healthy Estuaries WA Peel-Harvey Estuary catchment (click here for boundary map) whose properties are situated on a waterway or drain, to erect fencing and/or undertake revegetation of the foreshore area.

Landholders will be required to contribute at least 50 per cent of the cost of their project through either cash or in-kind contributions, for example, installation of fencing or completion of revegetation.

Landowner benefits include:

  • improvements to farm infrastructure
  • reduced erosion
  • the opportunity to improve water quality in your local waterways and estuary.

Register your interest by contacting Jennie Beeson at PHCC (08 6369 8800 jennie.beeson@peel-harvey.org.au) This program is a part of Healthy Estuaries WA – a State Government Royalties for Regions program that aims to improve the health of our South West estuaries.
