Cr Laurie Snell

Born and raised in Fresno, located in the central San Joaquin Valley of California, USA. Degree BSc in Agricultural Science with major Animal Husbandry, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California.  Currently serving eleventh year as a Councillor for the Shire of Waroona. After immigrating to Australia in 1964, employment took me from New South Wales to South Australia and a career in agricultural journalism.  Marriage brought me to Western Australia with my husband, John Snell, a beef cattle producer. I found Western Australia provides an opportunity to preserve our environment but also to integrate an increasing population, agriculture and mining into a workable model. When I see mishandling of land and water resources, I try to act in productive and proactive ways.  For this reason, I feel the Peel-Harvey Catchment Council’s science-based management model of preserving the environment by practical, innovative methods is the right way. I appreciate the chance to be the Local Government Coastal representative on the Council.
