Cultivating strong connections with the wide network of Environmental Officers across the Peel-Harvey region is a critical part of the work PHCC does to support our sustainable landscapes and communities.

We are proud to see the return of the PHCC Regional Officers Group, where staff from any organisation working in the Peel-Harvey region can join in a regional conversation about what projects are being done, who’s working on what, what synergies can be explored, which community groups need support and who wants to #celebrate their local achievements!

The most recent meeting was facilitated virtually by PHCC’s Regional Agriculture Landcare Facilitator (RALF) Mick Davis, who supported 23 other environmental staff from local governments and community groups across the region to come together and provide updates on their work, their community and future opportunities.

The group discussed:

  • Regional Pest Control
  • the upcoming State NRM & Coastal Conference
  • Opportunities to fence vegetation & waterways
  • Conservation of threatened species like cockatoos and numbats
  • Support for the 2022 State NRM Grants (which are open now!)
  • and lots more!

It was a great chance to hear from everyone, with one of the biggest messages being that it felt good to feel part of a bigger team of passionate environmental officers, many of whom work on their own far from other people with similar roles. We look forward to the next meeting in September; if you are interested in joining in please contact Mick on mick.davis@peel-harvey.org.au
