A successful workshop was held on 20th September in Williams to provide farmers with different strategies for on-farm surface and subsurface water management to improve crop productivity. This included an afternoon farm visit to the Fowler family “Crossman Farm” to view their water management practices which include a combination of interceptor banks, conservation fencing on hilltops and planting (and fencing) valley floor with native vegetation. The Workshop brought home the value of good planning and design before implementing any on-ground drainage works.

The Workshop was supported by the Peel-Harvey Catchment Council through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program, Grains Research and Development Corporation and South Coast NRM.
