This citizen science activity examines the level of plastic contamination in specific areas of the Peel-Yalgorup Ramsar Wetland. Student groups will work alongside a Micro-plastic Coordinator to conduct a survey of a local shoreline and analyze the plastic micro-fibers taken from the sand. These students will be the first to play a vital role in understanding the extent of microplastic contamination in the wetland. Samples will be analyzed by UWA and results presented back to class at Part2 of the program.
