Exciting News For Mandurah’s Recfishing Community

The beautiful Peel Harvey estuary and the rivers which flow into it provide fishing enjoyment for thousands of people. The importance of fish habitat supporting healthy fish stocks is something all fishers understand and appreciate.

OzFish Peel Harvey will be holding an information night for the Mandurah fishing community looking at how better habitat will provide better fishing into the future. We will be discussing  how improving habitat in the local canals and channels will provide wider improvements in local fishing. Plus there will be a Q & A session where we would love to hear your local habitat ideas and suggestions about how we can all improve local fishing.

It will be held at the Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club on Tuesday 11th of May from 6.00pm-7.30pm. Light snacks and water will be provided.

OzFish Senior Program Manager for WA Andrew Mathews will be MCing the evening with talks by:

Alanna Cooper – OzFish WA Project Officer: OzFish and fish habitat in the area

Leyland Campbell – Recfishwest Policy Officer: Recfishwest and local fishing issues

Jesse Rowley – Peel Harvey Catchment Council Healthy Waterways Officer: waterways projects that are underway to help protect our rivers and estuary

This project is supported by the Peel Harvey Catchment Council through funding from the State Governments Royalties for Regions and BCF- Boating, Camping, Fishing.
